Federally, cannabis is treated as an illegal drug. The FCDO warns you should expect a long jail sentence and heavy fines for possessing, using or smuggling illegal drugs, including when transiting through airports. Even where California permits recreational cannabis, do not carry it through the airport or across state lines.
